Bridal Makeup FAQ

Q: “I’m ready to book! What does it take to reserve my date?”

A: Your date is not reserved without a signed agreement and paid retainer. Once you review your proposal and everything looks good and no changes need to be made, you can sign the agreement as well as secure your date with a $100.00 non- refundable retainer.

Q: How quickly do you book?

A: Brides typically secure their dates with us 12-16 months in advance, so don't wait! The longer you wait, the sooner someone will take your date!

Q: Some people are on the fence about having services, what should I do?

A: If you have some party members unsure about services, please leave them out of the service headcount as services cannot be reduced after booking. If people would like to add on at a later time, we will certainly try to accommodate this if we are able.

Q: What if the number of people in my party changes prior to the wedding day?

A: The number of services cannot be reduced after the time of booking. Requests for more services will be considered if we are able!

Q: Do you have a minimum to book?

A: We require at least the Bride + 4 people for the initial Artist booked on your package, or a minimum of $1,000 (Luxury Artists) or $1,250 (Premium Artists) to book Wedding day services on Friday, Saturday or Sunday.

Additional Artists added to your initial package require a minimum $950.

Q: Do you offer airbrush makeup?

A: Some but not all of our Artists offer Airbrush makeup. We prefer to do a skin analysis at the time of your trial, so we can determine which type of foundation is best for our clients.

Q: Do you offer lashes?

A: Individual, cluster (Bride only) or strip lashes (Bride or any service) are included in the cost of your makeup application. If you or your party do not want lashes (Trust us, you'll want them!) they are not discounted from the cost of your service as we include them free of charge.

Q: Do we need to bring any of our own makeup?

A: Nope! For sanitary purposes we cannot use any of your own products. Our kits are fully stocked with anything and everything you could possibly need that day!

Q: What happens if my Artist can't make it on my wedding day? (Illness, family death, accident etc.)

A: We will do our absolute best to find a trusted replacement Artist for you as soon as possible. Please read more about this in our contract.

Q: Can we get ready at my venue?

A: Most venues have a late entry time due to cleaning up from other events the day before yours. This usually does not give hair and makeup enough time to complete the services we need to complete. Please check with your venue to see what time they allow you to access it before committing to getting ready there. We recommend large hotel suites or conference rooms, a residence or Air BnB as great getting ready alternatives. Spending some extra cash on a gorgeous suite is worth every penny for your comfort since there will be so many people in the room at once. Your glam team and photo/video vendors will thank you!

Q: “Do you offer a trial prior to booking?”

A: We do not offer trials prior to booking. We want our Brides to be just as excited about working with us as we are with them, so we prefer to have your date booked prior to your Makeup Preview so you can ensure the date is saved for you!

Q: “When should I book my Makeup Preview?”

A: We recommend booking your Preview within 3 months of your wedding date. Previews are booked on weekdays. By this time, Brides typically have an idea of what their dress will look like, if they will be getting a spray tan, the color scheme of the wedding and what they envision themselves looking like on their wedding day. These are all important factors in customizing your Bridal makeup look.

Q: “What should I bring to my Makeup Preview?”

A: We prefer a fresh clean face with no makeup, a photo of you with special occasion makeup on, photos for inspiration, as well as a photo of your dress and hair style. This way we can be prepared together to create your dream look. If you will be getting a spray tan for the big day, this is a great time to pre-plan your spray tan trial and come to your Makeup Preview with your tan.

Q: “What happens at my Makeup Preview?”

A: During your Preview your Artist will ask questions about your wedding-day details, as well as ask detailed questions about your skin, how you plan to wear your hair, personal style, wedding day vision, comfort level with makeup, etc. The better understanding of these details, the smoother the process will be to achieve the look you envision for your wedding makeup. This is you and your Artists' time to get to know each other, so we recommend coming alone for no distractions. Our team loves open communication and feedback. Your Makeup Preview is a collaborative effort where you and your Artist will work together to get the look you want just right to ensure you are completely in love and excited with how your wedding makeup will look.

Q: “My Bridesmaids are paying for their own makeup, can they pay individually?”

A: We require the retainer and final payment to be made by one person only. If you need to have your party members or family members pay for their services, please have them pay you first.

Q: “I don’t typically wear makeup, how will you make me feel comfortable?”

A: We always re-assure our clients that we will work with them to understand their concerns and goals to get their ideal look. We ask a variety of questions so we can better understand our clients that aren't super makeup savvy to better guide them toward their perfect

finished look.

Q: “What should I be budgeting for Bridal Makeup services?”

A: In your research you may be experiencing some sticker shock at some of the quotes you are receiving . It is especially confusing for you when you see such low to high price ranges depending on who you are researching. You may even think Makeup Artists are all the same and left to base your decision on price. The good news is we are not all the same and here is why.

Many people have never hired a professional Makeup Artist before so they understandably have no idea what professional mobile makeup services should cost and what to budget. Makeup Artists base their rates on factoring in covering our time (phone calls, emails, creating contracts, time actually spent doing makeup), expertise (newbies at the lower end, more experienced at the higher end), cost of materials (makeup, skin prep items, disposables, tools, brushes, lighting, chairs), insurance, retirement plan, education, and many other costs of doing business (studio space/rent, utilities, internet, phone, marketing and advertising).

When researching wedding Makeup Artists, look at their level of experience, what kinds of reviews they have, are they a solid business and reliable. Make sure your vision for your makeup aligns with the Artist you are booking! Begin your research in advance in order to be able to budget accordingly to secure the level of experienced Makeup Artist you are seeking.

We cannot speak for every Makeup Artist out there, but when you work with us, you will have peace of mind knowing we have been in the wedding industry for over 15 years with a solid reputation. We take pride in offering personalized customer service, while utilizing industry trusted professional grade products to ensure flawless, camera ready and long lasting results. Brides who have worked with us tell us they knew they made the best choice in hiring our team because they could trust we would be able to work well with their entire bridal party offering diverse looks to suit each person’s skin type, tone and needs. In addition, our brides have expressed how calm and assured they were by the manner in which we listen and pay attention to detail and were open to both input and experimentation, as well as able to make them look exactly the way they had hoped. Brides often comment on how much peace of mind our team gives them with our calming, professional but fun demeanors as well as being punctual, reliable and responsive with communication.

Q: “My Bridesmaids don’t want to pay for professional Makeup, what do I do?”

A: This concern comes up often. It’s understandable that budget may be a concern for you and some members of your bridal party. Some brides may feel added pressure to find a cheaper, less experienced Makeup Artist because they feel uncomfortable asking their bridal party to spend money on beauty services. This is one of the most important photographed events of your life. You as the bride deserve to be the deciding factor of who you hire to bring out the best version of you and your bridal party. Food for thought, did your bridal party decide who you choose as your venue, florist, photographer, your wedding dress? Why should your decision on beauty services be an exception?

Some brides think that makeup for the bridal party isn’t as important of an investment as it is for themselves and will use that objection as a reason to hire a less experienced Makeup Artist. This could not be farther than the truth. How many weddings have you been a bridesmaid in where you hated your makeup, the experience wasn’t pleasant, the Makeup Artist didn’t listen to you or make you feel beautiful? It’s an awful experience that no one should have to endure.

Professional makeup services for your wedding is an investment towards the quality and end result of your wedding photos that you will look back on for years to come. There are no do overs with your wedding makeup and photography. If you can afford to gift your bridal party with professional makeup services they will surely appreciate the gesture. If it is not in your budget to cover the full cost, there are many ways to work this out with your bridal party to ensure you have who you want to work with. In those cases, some brides will give their bridal party the option to get their makeup done or let their bridal party make their own arrangements. Some brides will opt to cover a portion of the services to offset the cost for their bridal party. There is nothing more special than having a day of pampering with your bridal party as they celebrate you!

Q: “Can you accommodate any ethnicity?”

A: Absolutely! We have extensive experience working with different skin tones, textures and types.

Q: “What brands of makeup do you use?”

A: Our team uses a variety of high end, professional grade cosmetics that will leave you with a long lasting look that is just as beautiful in person as it is behind the lens of a camera.

Q: “Should I do a Makeup Preview?”

A: There are no do overs on your wedding day and you should feel relaxed as you get ready. A Preview is necessary to ensure you are are a good fit for your Artist and to ensure that you are comfortable spending the day together and will love how your makeup will look come wedding day.

Q: “Where does my Makeup Preview take place?”

A: This all depends on which Artist you choose to work with. Once you have chosen your Artist, we can arrange your Preview with them within 3 months from your wedding day. Previews are scheduled during the weekdays. Weekend Previews are reserved for our out of town Brides and are based around weddings and Artist availability.

Q: “How many people can you accommodate?”

A: One makeup artist can accommodate up to 6 people on their own. For larger groups, or a later start time, an additional Artist can be provided with advance notice when signing the agreement to guarantee availability.

Q: “How long does makeup take?”

A: To ensure a laid back and relaxed experience, as well as to guarantee you and your bridal party are on time for your photos, we factor in buffer time and allocate 1.5 hours for the bride and 50 minutes per each additional client. We arrive 15 minutes prior to services to set up, and leave 15 minutes at the end of services for final touch ups. We recommend all services be complete by 1 hour prior to your photographer's arrival time. Closer to your wedding date, when your photography timeline is finalized, Maggie will work with you and your planner, if applicable, to coordinate a morning of timeline that will be emailed to you to share with your bridal party. This will ensure that everyone is on time to make your day run smoothly and efficiently as it is important not to hold up your photography timeline. Our past brides have always expressed their appreciation in not having to worry about being on time when they have a schedule prepared for them to give to their bridal party. It is one less thing for them to think about when there are so many other details.

Q: “Will you stay through my ceremony?”

A: We offer the option of 4 hours or 8 hours of touch up coverage for the Bride only. We also offer a full day coverage for touch ups for the entire party. Time for these services starts after all services are completed. If you are interested in learning more about our customized service options, please reach out in our contact form.

Q: “Will my makeup last?”

A: Professional makeup holds up throughout the day, but it is often a very long day, and some touch ups do need to happen as you will likely cry and could be standing outside with your bridal party under the blazing sun during photos and ceremony. Many brides don’t know that they can hire their Makeup Artist to stay with them through photos and ceremony. In fact, some Makeup Artists don’t even choose to offer this service. This is one of the things that makes our team different as we saw a need that was not being met. We offer customized day rates for the bride that wants touch ups through photos and ceremony. This is often the most popular choice with brides during the summer months with photos and ceremony often outside.
